Pluto into Capricorn - Part I

Into Capricorn again to stay
November 17, 2008 through 2023-24

We are experiencing transformational times both personally and in our world.  Pluto is one of the planets astrologers look at for these changes.  Starting in January 1995, Pluto was in the sign Sagittarius (a fire sign) which rules ethics, morality, religion, education, politics, foreign affairs and sports.   With this cycle ending this November, we need to pay critical attention to the presidential election and the 2008 Olympics in Bejing.

Pluto represents transformation, reform, death and rebirth, purging and often represents groups of people in power or in abuse of power.  Capricorn, an earth sign, is a responsible down to earth sign and represents law and order, organization, structure, business and institutions.   I have always seen this time period as one of World Order.  This will bring about a major transformation of the world as we know it right now, the social order, laws and hopefully a time where we begin to take personal responsibility for our lives.

It helps to look historically at the last time Pluto was in Capricorn. Below is a list of those time frames.

41 to 59 AD; 287 to 306 AD; 532 to 551 AD; 778 to 796 AD; 1024-1041 AD; 1269-1298 AD; 1515-1532 AD; 1762-1778 AD

Some themes for us to look at:
Christianity:
Christianity was established between 41 to 59 AD with Paul of Taurus.  In the next cycles we see persecution  of Christians in 287-306 AD and persecution of the last remaining pagans by Justianian I in 532-551 AD (to establish his empire under the one religion of orthodox Christianity, almost all of our Christian holidays were adapted from pagan celebrations).   Charlemagne was ruthless with the Saxons subjecting them and converting them to Christianity in 778-796 AD; the Christian Crusades were in full force in 1269-1287 AD, Martin Luther and the beginning of protestant reformation in 1515-1532 AD along with Calvin and the Huguenot movement; and the Jesuits expelled from the Holy Roman Empire in 1762-1778.

As Pluto in Sagittarius seems to almost always bring transformation in religion, ethics and moral issues, we seem to set up standards and structures for these changes in the Capricorn time frame.  At present we have the far right Christians under scrutiny, a president who changed the concept of separation of state and religion and many examples of the use of Christianity for power and abuse of power.   You can feel the changes in the air.  On a spiritual level we will emerge from this time period with more consciousness and awareness of the place that religion has in our lives.   I think that metaphysics will expand and replace the old Christianity.  This is already happening with concepts like the Law of Attraction and will eventually encompass all of the Universal Laws.  Each time period of Pluto in Capricorn brings a transformation to religion in the way of new structure or organization.

Politics/Big Business

Pluto in Capricorn historically seems to have much to do with the rise and fall of nations and setting up of new laws to police and regulate the people.

In Rome, Caligula, a cruel and licentious ruler, was assassinated by the Praetorian guard who named Caligula's uncle, Claudius I as emperor.  He was considered an extremely good administrator (41 to 59 AD). Diocletian (284-305 AD) as roman emperor transformed the government into absolute autocrats and citizens into subjects setting the precedent for medieval feudal lords, their imperial bureaucracy and vassals.  Justinian codified Roman laws and spread Byzantine administration to Northern Africa, parts of Spain and Italy (778-796 AD).   Kublai Khan ruled China (1269-87 AD).   We see the growth of the Spanish empire to include the capture of the Aztec and Inca lands (1515-1532 AD).  In the last time frame of 1762-1778 AD, Catherine the Great rules in Russia (after the murder of Peter III), the rulership of the Hapsburg dynasty, seeds of the French Revolution, India revolutions over taxes with the British East India Company and last but not least the American Revolution was started and Declaration of Independence signed on July 4, 1776.

The US is in big trouble.  We are in a recession, we are at war, the dollar is falling, looking at the possibility of a depression, plus the extremely poor relations we have with the world at large.  This makes the presidential election this year highly important.  Another interesting fact was that in the growth of the Spanish empire in the cycle of 1515-1532, Spain granted the first license to import African slaves to the colonies in America.  How fascinating that we have a black man running for president.  Karma is karma and the election chart for this year shows Pluto at 29 degrees Sagittarius, just 13 days before it moves into Capricorn to stay.

There is not enough room to list all of the things that have taken place in the last 13 years that have brought this immense transformation to the United States.  I personally feel raped and pillaged and am still trying to sort all of this out.  Because none of us know for certain what is going to happen, I rely on living my life based on the Universal Laws.

I believe there will be revolutions against existing governments, response to this with legal codes and laws to stop populations from these changes, possible police states, use of power in the name of security and the concept that Democracy is too dangerous to leave to the masses, video cameras everywhere and the ability to know exactly where everyone is and what is going on (Big Brother).  The have and have nots division will grow even wider and the governments of all countries owned and directed by corporations.  Capricorn rules big business.  Sounds rather dire but in fact these conditions already exist and they will simply be more intensified.

I also have great hope that with the changes happening in this time frame, that we will come up with more humane and loving ways to deal with the world getting rid of the prejudice, divine right attitudes and become more compassionate and work from the first of the Universal Laws, that “we are all one”, coming together to make this world the paradise that it can be.

We will probably have world government, a new world economy and currency that reflects this and after the first few years of this cycle (now to 2012) which will be tumultuous and painful, the changes will be activated, gone through and we will move to the next level of a more orderly and universal change.

The difference in direction will be made because of the consciousness of the people.
